It seems to me that the Linux Terminal Server Project http://www.ltsp.org/ makes alot of sense for organisations - lower IT costs, easier management, and I suspect there would be an environmental impact as well, with many computers not being regularly made redundant.

I doubt the real world would agree with this philosophy, but lets face it - all most folks do at work is surf the internet, type a document / spreadsheet, and probably use some internal app.

I might implement this for my home network - I think my wife would get annoyed though.  Can’t have an unhappy wife.
