Intense Debate

Something I've been considering adding to Find A Car is comments on vehicles that are up for sale. It's just been a case of me being too busy/lazy to actually make it happen.

I was on a website today, and saw someone using Intense Debate for their comments, and it is the simplest most elegant instant commenting system I've come across:

  • You sign up
  • you get a javascript
  • you plug it into your webpage
  • Done.

It took me less than 5 minutes to add a feature I've been contemplating for months. I've always been thinking about the best way to approach the problem from a coding point of view. I think too much.

I think a key to getting things done is not to over analyse. Just make it happen, and move on. Revisit if there is a glaring problem that needs to be resolved - likely it will be a spam issue for me, but I'll worry abou that when it happens.

But getting back on topic - my philosophy is more and more becoming "stop reinventing the wheel", and web2.0 apps are helping me achieve that goal.
