Don't forget about crowdsourcing...
This is a reminder to myself not to forget about crowdsourcing, using a service like Amazon Mechanical Turk http://mturk.com.
The 'turk' can be assigned small jobs that can be taken by thousands of people to get things done quickly. For example, a company called CastingWords uses mturk to get people to manually transcribe podcasts for a small amount of money.
You might want someone to moderate a post or to confirm that an image isn't inappropriate - things that are difficult for computers to do, but humans find simple, but left to a single person collectively take a long time to complete.
You can ask 1 person to do something that takes 1 minute 1000 times, and it will take 1000 minutes - OR - you can ask 1000 people to do something that takes 1 minute, once, and it will only take 1 minute. That is the beauty of crowdsourcing.
Next time you want to populate your website, why not crowdsource, to "seed" the site.
