How to Connect Your Laptop to Your TV
Here's a quick little tip for connecting your laptop to your television.
What you need:
- A S-Video to single RCA cable
- A 3.5mm Stereo jack to 2 RCA Plugs
These items can usually be obtained from your local electronics shop for around $20 total! If you can't find an S-Video to RCA cable, you may find an S-Video to RCA adapter plug instead. Ask the guy at the shop - they'll be able to help you easily.
Now you've got your plugs - connect them to the AV port which is the yellow, red and white rca plugs on your tv, and connect the other end to your laptop. You may need to press a button on your laptop which tells your laptop to send the video out through the S-Video port - check your manual if you can't find it.
Now, you can use your laptop to play video files, DVD's or even just display what you are doing on your laptop. You may need to adjust the resolution of your laptop so you can see what you are doing.
I actually found that the image from the laptop when playing video files looks much better on the TV than it does on my laptop, which I think has something to do with TV's being lower resolution the computer monitors, so the pixelation is kinda smoothed over, making it look better.

I have a Acoustic solutions LCD26805hd TV, I have bought all the correct cables( I think, one is a HDMI to DVI-D cable and the other is a audio cable, which is a Mini Jack to 2 RCA cables. I am able to get my desktop image to be on my TV screen and I can see the mouse moving around as well, but thats it, there is no desktop icons on the screen and when I open a program, like Autocad or play windows media player nothing comes up on the TV. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a Toshiba P100 laptop
