Using Lame to compress MP3 files

This is more a note to myself - I've been running through a few settings for compressing mp3 files - particularly those from podcasts, and found the following option has good results:
lame -V6 --vbr-new source.mp3 destination.mp3
This reduced a 10.6MB file to 7.6MB - that's almost an extra song worth if you are trying to squeeze more music onto your mp3 player.
Of course, my main reason for the compression is to reduce the file size of podcasts. An extra 3MB to download when it is unnecessary is just plain silly.
